Open Data SA lists 91 records labeled Residential Fence Application and 82 records labeled Residential Fence Permit from July 1 through July 31. These totals do not describe one matched group moving from application to approval.

Austin new shed work
Austin issued two new residential permits in July whose project descriptions explicitly named a shed. Because shed is not a consistent dedicated permit class, the total does not capture every shed project.
August 1-7 pulse
This is a partial weekly window, not a full-month comparison. The files were current through August 7 when rechecked on August 15.

Read the counts carefully

San Antonio publishes dedicated residential fence labels. Austin uses different permit triggers and classifications, so placing the cities in one ranking would mislead.

The 91 and 82 July counts are separate totals, as are the 23 and 25 August counts. These pairs are not a conversion rate, and each may include different projects.

Austin's two records are the permits that explicitly named new shed work. Other accessory projects may use broader descriptions.

The records show regulated projects recorded by the cities. They do not count exempt work, online research, homeowner questions, or future purchase intent.

Use July 1-31 for the complete-month read and August 1-7 for the clearly labeled partial San Antonio pulse.

Count San Antonio's exact residential fence labels. For Austin, keep new residential accessory permits whose descriptions explicitly name a shed.

Publish the aggregate counts and method. Do not retain applicant names, property addresses, contact details, or permit documents.
The July review was completed on August 12, 2026. The August 1-7 pulse was rechecked on August 15, 2026. City data can be revised after publication.
